Testing & Placement

Life Credit

In order to ensure the maximum potential success for students, many colleges require mandatory assessment in the basic skills areas of English, reading and mathematics for all new students enrolling in degree or certificate programs.

Testing and placement is designed to assess your skill levels in writing, mathematics, reading, and foreign language to help academic advisors identify the appropriate match between the course level and your current skills. The testing program utilizes a series of examinations in the basic skills areas. The results of these tests, together with a thorough evaluation of your high school academic record, will enable schools to determine your placement in some of your courses. Proper placement will help ensure success in completing your General Education Requirements, which, in turn, will provide a solid foundation in communication skills, mathematics, and critical thinking. This will prepare you with the skills necessary to take full advantage of your studies in your chosen academic major.
